FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Lab Grown Diamond Questions

1. What are lab-grown diamonds, and how are they created?

Lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds created in controlled environments. They are produced using either the High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) or Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) methods, replicating the natural diamond growth process.

2.  Are lab-grown diamonds the same as natural diamonds?

Yes, lab-grown diamonds have the same physical, chemical, and optical properties as natural diamonds. The main difference is their origin.

3.  What are lab-grown diamonds, and how are they different from other synthetic stones like moissanite and cubic zirconia (CZ)?

Lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds created in controlled environments, sharing the same chemical composition as natural diamonds. In contrast, moissanite and CZ are distinct materials with different properties. Lab-grown diamonds have superior hardness, brilliance, and fire compared to moissanite and CZ.

4. Are lab-grown diamonds less expensive than natural diamonds?

Generally, yes. Lab-grown diamonds are often priced lower than natural diamonds of comparable quality, making them an affordable and ethical choice.

5.  How can I tell if a diamond is lab-grown or natural?

Lab-grown diamonds may have inscriptions or laser markings on the girdle to indicate their origin. Always ask for a reputable diamond grading report to verify a diamond's authenticity.

6. Are lab-grown diamonds certified?

Yes, lab-grown diamonds can be certified by reputable gemological laboratories, just like natural diamonds. These certifications provide detailed information about a diamond's quality and authenticity. We offer certified lab-grown diamonds to ensure transparency and quality.

7. Are lab created diamonds flawless?

Just like their mined counterparts, every lab created diamond is unique. Grown under the same intense heat and pressure as a mined diamond, a lab grown diamond undergoes the same growth process and may still contain minor internal or surface imperfections like a mined diamond will. This means every lab grown diamond will vary in color, clarity and cut. Expert gemological labs such as the IGI and GIA evaluate and certify every single lab created diamond using the same strict standards applied to mined diamonds.

8. Will a lab grown diamond pass a diamond tester?

Yes, lab grown diamonds will pass a diamond tester. Since lab grown diamonds are made of pure carbon and have the same thermal conductivity and chemical properties as real diamonds, they will record a positive test on a diamond tester.

9. Are lab grown diamonds truly conflict-free?

Yes, lab-grown diamonds are considered conflict-free. This means they are not associated with the ethical concerns related to "blood diamonds" or diamonds sourced from regions with armed conflicts, human rights abuses, or unethical practices. Lab-grown diamonds are produced in controlled, ethical environments, ensuring their conflict-free status.

Diamond Buying Guide: How to Choose the Perfect Diamond

Purchasing a diamond is a significant investment and a symbol of enduring love. Whether you're looking for an engagement ring, anniversary gift, or any other special occasion, this guide will help you make an informed decision when buying a diamond.

1. Understand the 4 Cs:

Of course, let's delve deeper into the 4Cs of diamonds with explanations and accompanying visuals:

1. Carat Weight

Carat weight measures a diamond's size. It's often the first thing people notice when they see a diamond. A carat is equal to 0.2 grams, and diamonds can range from a fraction of a carat to several carats.

2. Cut

Cut refers to how well a diamond has been shaped and faceted. It impacts the diamond's brilliance and sparkle. A well-cut diamond reflects light beautifully. Key factors in cut include proportions, symmetry, and the quality of facets.

3. Clarity

Clarity assesses the presence of internal and external flaws, known as inclusions and blemishes, within the diamond. Diamonds with fewer imperfections have higher clarity grades. A loupe or microscope is used to examine these flaws.

 4. Color

Diamonds are graded on a scale from D (colorless) to Z (light yellow or brown). The less color a diamond has, the higher its value. Even subtle color differences can significantly affect a diamond's appearance.

These 4Cs interact to determine a diamond's overall quality and price. Finding the right balance among them ensures you choose a diamond that suits your preferences and budget.

2. Set a Budget:

Determine how much you're willing to spend on your diamond purchase. Setting a budget helps narrow down your options and ensures you stay within your financial comfort zone.

3. Choose the Diamond Shape:

Diamonds come in various shapes (e.g., round, princess, emerald, oval, marquise). Select the shape that appeals to your personal style and preferences.

4. Select the Setting:

Consider the type of jewelry setting (e.g., solitaire, halo, three-stone) for your diamond. The setting enhances the diamond's appearance and overall design.

5. Certification:

Only buy diamonds with a reputable grading certificate, such as GIA or IGI. These certificates provide essential details about the diamond's 4 Cs and authenticity.
